Summer in Santa Monica usually means spending time at the beach and enjoying the sun, but before you head indoors after dark, check out the Twilight Music Series held at the Santa Monica Pier. Now in its 29th year, the free music series features a different artist every Thursday night from July through the beginning of September. Concert goers over 21 will have a wine garden available to them, and there is an assortment of restaurants and food trucks along the Pier open to everyone.
Upcoming artists who will be performing this year include:
August 1: Xavier Rudd – Australian singer/songwriter, whose most recent album is entitled "Spirit Bird."
August 8: Hanni El Khatib – Blues, rock and pop.
Bombino – World music.
August 15: The English Beat – 1980s New Wave.
August 22: Nick Waterhouse – Contemporary artist who incorporates doo-wop music.
The Boogaloo Assasins – 1960s R&B group.
August 29: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue – New Orleans jazz..
September 5: Gardens & Villa and Mr. Little Jeans – Indie rock.
September 12: Jimmy Cliff – Grammy award-winning Jamaican musician and singer.
There will be no seats at the shows, so concert-goers are advised to bring blankets. If you plan on driving to one of the concerts from your Santa Monica vacation rental, parking is available in the 1550 Pacific Coast Highway Lot next to the Pier on a first-come, first-served basis. For those trying to stay green, there is also a bike and skateboard valet available. Dogs are welcome too!
