If you are a foodie staying in a Santa Monica vacation rental and are looking for something fun and exciting to do this Thursday, March 7, then you may want to consider attending Food Fare 2013. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to try out food and drink from some of Los Angeles County's best and most prestigious restaurants, catering companies and wineries. Various florists will also be there giving away their secrets on how to create the perfect floral arrangement. The event has humble beginnings as it was first held in 1979 when Julia Child was the only cook to give a demonstration, and has since turned into a Santa Monica affair that attracts thousands every year.
Wondering what eateries will be making an appearance at this year's Food Fare? Those who have vowed to wow guests by offering them tasty samples include Ammo Cafe, Bar Pintxo, Porta Via Bistro and Upstairs 2.
Wine aficionados will appreciate the fact that Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery and Summerland Winery will be there on Thursday and respected florists like Lily Pad Flower Design and Heather's Flowers will have booths set up, too.
A raffle and auction will also be held. Winners will be offered the chance to take luxurious vacations to fabulous destinations like Paris or Telluride, Colorado. If your name is drawn, you could be rewarded with a tequila-tasting party for you and 10 friends, dinner for eight at Pink's Hot Dogs complete with champagne and limo transportation or even a private screening at Lionsgate for you and 25 of your closest pals.
This year, Food Fare will be held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium at 1855 Main Street. Day tickets start at $150 and night admission will cost you $225. Both can be purchased online. If you'd like more information, call (213) 284-3316.
