Get down and dirty in Los Angeles County for a good cause

When people think of mud, it’s not usually for good reasons. However, one event just outside of Los Angeles is encouraging people to get down and dirty all for a good cause. On October 13, residents and tourists alike will partake in what’s known as “That Dam Mud Run.”

In order to participate, runners can purchase tickets, which cost $69 for adults and $15 for children, and the money will go to benefit the Gavin R. Stevens Foundation, a Los Angeles County nonprofit group that raises money to treat and find a cure for blindness.

Ticket holders will gather at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, located at 15501 East Arrow Drive in Baldwin Park and then choose to either partake in the 5K run while covered in mud or simply observe all the shenanigans going on at the event.

Runners can also choose to take part solo or join team events, which, in addition to the run, include an obstacle course complete with tires, ramps mud pits and ramps. After everything comes to an end around 6 p.m., all guests can listen to live entertainment and munch on delicious food. Those who are over 21 years old shouldn’t miss out on stopping by the beer garden.

If you think there aren’t any places to clean off when the day comes to a close, think again. There are more than 30 showers at the recreation area so that runners don’t have to leave without scrubbing down.

After a long day of playing in the mud, why not come back to a L.A. vacation rental managed by Signature Vacation Homes. Their representatives will help you find a spacious home with incredible amenities, such as a salt water pool, so you can relax and clean off in a flash.
